Jimi in the House

19 Jul

Jimi Hendrix had a brief but still celebrated connection to Vancouver. Jimi’s grandmother, Nora (short for Zenora) Hendrix, was one of the city’s more prominent black citizens in the 1940s. In 1949, seven-year old Jimi lived briefly with his grandmother in this small house (on the right of the image) at 827 East Georgia Street. The house is located in Strathcona, a charming neighborhood that retains some of the first and oldest buildings and has heritage status.
